I am very happy and proud to tell everybody that on Sunday 18 May 2008 I got the artisan status at
IGMA (International Guild of Miniature Artisans)
To learn more about IGMA, click the logo: it will open a new window with their WS.
Carpets
of Caucasian, Turkmen and Turkish origin have been used in a lot of interiors and different styles for a long time. A lot
of painters of the 16-17-18-19th century show these carpets in their paintings. The fine
floral style is a workshop carpet what became fashion end of the 19th century. For some
of my carpets I found inspiration in real existing carpets and styles, some of them are fantasy... I hope you will like them
as much as I do!

More detailed information: I am working on a small Turkish silk loom. To knot carpets you have to prepare the loom, putting warp on it. The material used and the way it is put on the loom is defining the
number of knots possible and the density of the carpet, what is important to make miniature carpets. When this is ready I can start to weave wefts and than making a line of design putting in the knots in the different
colors to make the design. Working up in lines of weft, knots-weft , knots and
so on. Here you see my loom. I am starting a new
line of knots on one of my silk miniature carpets...
The carpets
are all flat, and I try to refine all the time...so the new ones are finer than this pictures shows.
As you
can find carpets of the same style and region in different sizes it is easy to adapt them to the scale you are working in. If you would like a 'real' size carpet, click here to send me an email.
