They did weave and knot the carpets, kilims and bags they needed in their daily life.

 Living in sometimes plain and deserted surroundings, they did like to bring some color in their life.

Their life did change a lot the last 50 years, and with these changings also their needs.

Modern technology and plastic bags did replace most of the nice hand-woven pieces they did use before.  And with disappearing or becoming rare, a lot of these items did become collectible pieces.
